SAHYADRI TREKS - ONE DAY

Peth Trek

This is a small fort with a large cave at the base. It is detached from main range. The top is funnel shaped and has rocky staircase carved in the centre. Hence the name Kothligad. Steps leads to the top from the cave. The caves at the top are a good example of Satvahan architecture. The overall area of the top is only about 160 yards. In November, 1817 this fort was won by Bapurao on behalf of second Bajirao from the British. December 30th, British captain Bruks regained this fort from the Peshwas. History says that people lived on this fort till 1862. From Ambivali, the climb to village Peth at the base of the fort is an easy route to the top.

 

Tentative Schedule

  • Assemble at Borivali National Park at 05:45 am & depart by Bus/Jeep for Ambivali village

  • After breakfast start trekking toward Peth fort (trek time 2 to 2 ½ hrs)

  • Visit the caves, water tank and the pinnacle base.

  • After exploring the top start descending to the village for lunch

  • Relax at the local house for sometime and depart for Mumbai by coachs 

Kalsubai Trek

Kalsubai the highest peak in Maharashtra Sahyadri range…stands 1648 mts tall almost 5400 feet above msl. During clear weather it gives majestic panoramic views all over the place. The trek uphill unfolds lot of treasure in terms of flora and views and one can cover the total distance in 3 to 4 hrs. On top is a small temple of Kalsubai. To reach there one has to climb laddersOver all a memorable trek all together.

 

Tentative Schedule

  • Assemble at Borivali National Park at 05:45 am and depart for Bari the base village

  • Enjoy breakfast en route in the vehicle.

  • Start trekking to the top of the Mountain (trek time 3-1/2 hrs approx)

  • Enjoy the view of the surroundings.

  • Later descend to the village and enjoy lunch

  • Proceed in the evening to Mumbai. 

Naneghat Trek

While going through Malshej Ghat, we can easily get a glimpse of Naneghat after Murbad. The significantly shaped thumb-like peak and the pinnacle of Vandarlingi are the most distinctly seen spots. This was the most important trade route, as it connected harbour of Sopara and Kalyan directly to Junnar and Paithan. On reaching Naneghat the first thing we can see is the spacious cave. At the entrance of the Ghat is a big vessel like thing, in which coins as toll were collected.

  • Assemble at Borivali National Park at 05:45 am & depart by Bus/Jeep for Vaishakre village

  • Enroute enjoy a packed breakfast

  • On arrival start the trek of about 2 to 2 ½ hrs to the top

  • Visit the various sections of the fort the cave, the other ghat and the toll vessel

  • After enjoying a hot lunch start descending to the base

  • Once we arrive enjoy some tea/coffee and later proceed for Mumbai

Korigad Trek

Korigad Fort is one of the simplest trekking destinations. Located at a distance of about 20kms from Lonavla, Korigad is famous for its fortified structure and the view it offers from the top of the dense forest that surrounds this fort. The top of the fort is about 3049 feet above sea level and is more of a flat topography. It houses a number of small ponds and two caves, one of which houses an idol of Lord Vishnu.

  • Assemble at Borivali National Park at 05:45 am & depart by Bus/Jeep for Peth Shahpur village. Breakfast en route.

  • Start trekking to the top of the fort (trek time 2 hrs approx)

  • Visit the various sections of the fort and enjoy the view of the surroundings.

  • After exploring the top start descending to the village and enjoy lunch

  • Proceed in the evening to Mumbai 

Lohagad Trek

Lohgad was one of the most important forts of Satwaahan Period, which takes us to 2000 to 2500 years back. Bhaje & Bedse caves where used by Buddhist monks to stay. These caves are situated in the mountain of Visapur. The fort houses many old constructions and much of its fortification is very intact. The entrances and the ramparts are as they were 200 years ago.

  • Assemble at Borivali National Park at 05:45 am & depart by Bus/Jeep for Bhaje village.

  • Breakfast enroute

  • Start trekking to the top of the Lohagad fort (trek time 1-1/2 to 2 hrs)

  • Visit the various sections of the fort and enjoy the view of the Dam below.

  • After exploring the top start descending to the village and enjoy a hot local lunch

  • Relax at the local house for sometime and then start descending and onwards to Mumbai

Andharban ​ 

Andharban is a stretch of evergreen forest. This forest is so dense that the sun rays find it difficult to reach the ground. Spectacular views of Kundalika Gorge is just awesome. Colourful Wild flowers add on the verdant landscape. This is one of the popular offbeat treks in the Sahyadris. Evergreen forest covers you with shade in most of the Trek. The trek further descends down in Konkan region to reach Bhira (4 kms). It is a trek for one and all of about 6 to 7 hrs.

Tentative Schedule

  • Assemble at Borivali National Park at 05:45 am & depart by 06:00 am by Bus/Jeep  

  • Enroute packed breakfast. On arrival trek to starting point of the trek in Tamhini ghat

  • Lunch Enroute. Proceed to Bhira Reservoir and onward.

  • After trek short time to relax and enjoy a small snack.

  • Depart for Mumbai by 1800 hrs to reach late into Mumbai
